PG-581 is a 60mil (0.060in or 1.5mm) gloss clear polycarbonate sheet. Polycarbonate is sometimes referred to by one of its common brand names: Lexan®, Tuffak®, Monogal®, or Makrolon®. Polycarbonate is known for its high impact resistance, excellent machinability, and good light transmission. Common applications for 60mil polycarbonate include: 1. equipment guards and safety shields including CNC router shields, lathe splash guards, and shop machine barriers; 2. window glazing for smaller structures like chicken coop windows, shed skylights, or some greenhouse panels; 3. protective display covers like touchscreen enclosures or museum display protection; 4. projects and prototyping; 5. motorcycle windshields or visors; 6. personal protective equipment and face shields; and 7. various POP/retail signage. Its shatter resistant material can be cut and drilled with standard tools without the risk of cracking. Polycarbonate also offers excellent optical clarity making it great for applications where viewability is desired. As a better insulator than glass, polycarbonate can help to lower energy costs. Please note that the 0.060†thickness is not intended for certain applications where extreme force will be applied to the polycarbonate.
