PG-590 is a 0.118in (3.0mm) gloss clear acrylic sheet. Acrylic is a versatile thermoplastic often used as a lightweight alternative to glass, and it may be useful for applications where glass would normally shatter. Acrylic is sometimes referred to as PMMA or as one of the following brand names: Acrylite®, Lucite®, or Plexiglas®. Acrylic performs well in harsh weather conditions and notably, clear acrylic also has the highest light transmittance and clarity when compared with both polycarbonate and glass. Common applications for 0.0118†acrylic include: signage and lighted displays, picture framing, retail display cases and shelving, protective barriers, sneeze guards, crafts and DIY home decor projects, light-diffusing panels for LEDs, model-making and prototyping, cashier barriers, and POP/retail signage. Please note that acrylic is often ideal for displays where aesthetics are of utmost importance, while polycarbonate is often the better choice where high impact resistance or security is required.
