PG-575 is a 0.220in (5.6mm) gloss clear polycarbonate sheet with a protective masking film on both sides. Polycarbonate is sometimes referred to by one of its common brand names: Lexan®, Tuffak®, Monogal®, or Makrolon®. Polycarbonate is known for its high impact resistance, shatter resistance, excellent machinability, and good light transmission. Common applications for 0.220†polycarbonate include: 1. security glazing and vandal resistant windows common in schools, bus stops, kiosks, storefronts, entryway windows, ticket booths, and bank teller barriers; 2. protective machine guards (heavy-duty use) in industrial machinery, shop equipment, enclosures, table saw shields, and lathe barriers; 3. storm panels, hurricane protection, and temporary boarding; 4. riot shields and barriers strong enough to withstand blunt force, kicking, or crowd impact; 5. roofing panels such as in greenhouses, a lean-to canopy, or pergola covers; 6. equipment covers and electronic enclosures such as utility box windows, display case covers, and solar equipment shields; 7. protective partitions including customer service windows, lab partitions, or desk guards; and 8. POP/retail signage and other general signage. Polycarbonate also offers excellent optical clarity making it great for applications where viewability is desired. As a better insulator than glass, polycarbonate can help to lower energy costs. Please note that 0.220†thickness is not intended for certain applications where the polycarbonate sheet will be under extreme force or stress.
