PG-580 is a 30mil (0.030in or 0.76mm) gloss clear polycarbonate sheet. Polycarbonate is sometimes referred to by one of its common brand names: Lexan®, Tuffak®, Monogal®, or Makrolon®. Polycarbonate is known for its high impact resistance, excellent machinability, and good light transmission. Common applications for 30mil polycarbonate include: 1. face shields and PPE visors such as Covid-style face shields, lab visors, and dental guards; 2. light machine covers and equipment windows including 3D printer covers, electronics viewports, and lab equipment guards; 3. printing, graphics, and overlays including instruction panels and POP/retail signs; 4. crafting and DIY templates such as quilting templates, wood routing guides, or painting stencils; 5. temporary greenhouse and seedling covers including seed trays, DIY cold frames, and propagation chambers; 6. Retail product packaging, tool case windows, and reusable storage bins; and 7. Desk sneeze guards, shelf barriers, and display case fronts. Its shatter resistant material can be cut and drilled with standard tools without the risk of cracking. Polycarbonate also offers excellent optical clarity making it great for applications where viewability is desired. As a better insulator than glass, polycarbonate can help to lower energy costs. Please note that the 0.030†thickness is not intended for certain applications where extreme force will be applied to the polycarbonate.
